WiOW 2024 Workshop Proceedings and Progress – December 2025
Following the conclusion of the WiOW 8th Symposium (Restoring our water health through knowledge-based solutions) a workshop was held in Ngunnawal Country (Canberra) on 1st November 2024 to discuss future action pathways.
The workshop brought together indigenous knowledge holders, scientists, environmental engineers, resource managers, regulators, policy makers and academia from Australasia.
Building on from the symposium this workshop was designed to:
Build a self-sustaining movement for lasting change that weaves knowledge from the Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and Māori science, and to hear how these multicultural perspectives could turn into actions for the purpose of promoting the sustained restoration for healing our waters in Australasia
and, to co-create the outputs and plans required to make lasting improvements in water health.
A report on the workshop design, synthesis and priority themes for future work is contained in a summary proceedings document.
